Description
Banyuls is a French appellation d’origine controlle (AOC) for a fortified aperitif or dessert wine made from old vines cultivated in terraces on the slopes of the Catalan Pyrenees in the Roussillon county of France, bordering, to the south, the Empord wine region in Catalonia in Spain.
The process of ageing for four years in oak barrels in the Mediterranean sun and then for one more year in new oak barrels imbues the subtle sweetness of Banyuls wine vinegar with rich aromas of walnut, gingerbread, beeswax, vanilla and liquorice.
